The 2023 spring national sports festival has opened.
In the festival in commemoration of the Day of the Sun, the anniversary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung, players will compete in more than 540 events of over 30 sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, gymnastics and Taekwon-Do.
The opening ceremony took place in the Basketball Gymnasium on Chongchun Street in Pyongyang on March 17.
It was attended by Vice-Premier Ri Song Hak, relevant officials, sportspersons and Pyongyang citizens.
Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, made an opening address.
Amid the playing of the song The Glorious Country, the flag symbolizing the festival was hoisted.
There was a march-past of players before a Taekwon-Do demonstration.
