Results of DPRK Championships

April 25 and Kigwancha teams became winners in the senior men’s and women’s volleyball games respectively.
An eye-catcher was the Sobaeksu team in the men’s event.
The April 25 and Kigwancha also won the senior men’s and women’s basketball games respectively.
Rhythmic gymnastics
The rhythmic gymnastics competition of the national championship took place at the Athletics Gymnasium on Chongchun Street in Pyongyang.
More than 40 gymnasts competed for gold medals in nine categories.
Pak Yu Jong from the Kigwancha Sports Club who came first in total individual rankings showed refined skills and rich artistic representation in the ball and club exercises of the apparatus finals to win the matches. Kim Mun Ye from the same club won the hoop match in the apparatus finals.
Players of the club won a gold medal in the team event and took the first place in the team rankings, thus bagging six golds.
Meanwhile, those of the Pyongyang Sports Club snatched three golds in the team totals and team events and Kim Hae Yon two golds in the ball and ribbon matches of the apparatus finals.
Diving
The players of the April 25 Team triumphed in five categories of the diving event of the national championships which was divided into ten categories.
Jo Ryu Myong of the team performed such movements of high degrees of difficulty as the three-and-a-half forward somersaults in the men’s low board to come first and also won the high board match. In addition he won the men’s 10m platform synchronized diving together with Kim Nam Ryong by putting in a wonderful performance.
Kim Mi Hwa took the first place in the women’s high board match and won the women’s 10m platform synchronized diving together with Ri Hyang Sim.
Im Yong Myong and Kim Mi Rae of the Pyongyang Sports Club won the men’s and women’s 10m platform categories respectively, and Pak Sol Hui the women’s low board diving.
The top place of the mixed team category was taken by the Ministry of Fisheries Sports Club.
Yu Jong and Ko Che Won of the club came first in the mixed 10m platform synchronized diving.
National records broken in shooting
Eight new national records were set in the shooting event of the championships.
Shooters of the Amnokgang Defence Sports Club broke national records in the men’s 25m speed pistol team shooting and the women’s 10m air rifle team shooting, while those of the Defence Sports Club of the Ministry of National Defence renewed national records in the women’s 10m air rifle team and 10m air pistol shootings.
National records were also broken in the 50m three-position rifle shootings.
Players from the Defence Sports Club of the Ministry of National Defence set a new record in the 50m three-position rifle team shooting and those of the Amnokgang Defence Sports Club in the 50m three-position rifle mixed team shooting.
