S. Koreans ratchet up campaign against traitor Yoon Suk Yeol and war games
June 17, 2023The south Korean region has seen daily-growing public protests to oust traitor Yoon Suk Yeol and to oppose the US imperialists' war exercises.
The "sit-down group of students against the firepower annihilation drill" has staged protests in Phochon of Kyonggi Province every day to expose the gravity of the traitor's dangerous war racket and condemn it.
Leaflets reading "We oppose the firepower annihilation drill bringing nuclear disaster to the Korean peninsula" were scattered on June 14.
On June 13, the Confederation of Trade Unions, the Federation of Peasants Associations, the Federation of Women Peasants Associations and other organizations held an emergency meeting and decided to form a "joint organization for ousting Yoon Suk Yeol regime".
Recalling that the public resistance of 1987 was aimed at changing the regime and that of 2016 at impeachment, the participants said the current resistance should not end merely in the resignation of the traitor. They underlined the need to form a joint front involving all the forces opposing the traitor with workers as its backbone, saying the organizations of workers, farmers and poor people, and civic and public and religious bodies and organizations of cultured men, lawyers and youth and students should become the driving force of the joint front.
The "action for peace on the Korean peninsula" held a press conference in Seoul to appeal to the public to go all out for defusing the danger of war on the peninsula and bringing about peace.
The construction trade union of the Confederation of Trade Unions held an oath-taking meeting on June 14 and made public an action plan to oust Yoon Suk Yeol.
People of Jeju Island held a rally to condemn the traitor, where they said that what remains to be done by Yoon Suk Yeol is to resign as he suppresses workers by wielding power and is hell-bent on crackdown by invoking the "security law”. They declared that they would intensify the struggle to oust the traitor.
The Kyongnam headquarters of the movement for Yoon Suk Yeol's resignation formed by civic organizations in South Kyongsang Province and the Kyongnam headquarters of the Confederation of Trade Unions held a press conference in front of the building of the Changwon District Prosecutor's Office to urge the prosecution not to clamp down on labour, dignity and conscience.
Forty branch organizations of the public transport workers' union held a press conference in Seoul where they declared the start of a joint struggle.
In Yangju City of Kyonggi Province on June 13, 23 civil society and religious organizations had a joint memorial gathering to vow to force the traitor to step down.
