An enlarged meeting of the plenary meeting of the DPRK Cabinet took place by way of videoconferencing on April 4.

Premier Kim Tok Hun, who is also member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, presided over the meeting.

The meeting was attended by vice-premiers Pak Jong Gun and Yang Sung Ho and other members of the Cabinet.

Present there as observers were officials of institutions under the direct control of the Cabinet and ministries, chairpersons of provincial, city and county people's committees and officials of agricultural guidance organs and major industrial establishments.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the first quarterly national economic plan for implementing the decisions of the sixth and seventh plenary meetings of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK and discussed the measures for carrying out the first half-yearly national economic plan and laying a solid foundation for attaining the grain production goal for this year.

Pak Jong Gun, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the State Planning Commission, made a report which was followed by speeches.

The meeting called on all sectors and units to more strictly establish the firm discipline of unquestioningly obeying the unified guidance of the Cabinet over economic work and take a correct standpoint on the implementation of the national economic plan and leading officials in the economic sector to bring about a radical turn in their ideological viewpoint, attitude toward work and way of work. 

It discussed issues arising in pushing ahead with the reclamation of tideland, irrigation projects and the production of farm machines as scheduled while taking measures to finish the sowing of crops in time and in a qualitative way and prevent drought damage to wheat and barley fields for the successful farming of early crops.

It referred to the issue of providing a firm guarantee for attaining the 12 major goals set forth by the Party by carrying out the next quarterly national economic plan without fail and effectively pressing on with the work for readjustment and reinforcement as planned, the issue for ministries and national agencies, provincial, city and county people's committees and agricultural guidance organs to enlist all manpower and means in farming and other issues and took relevant measures.
