Monumental edifices symbolic of the development and future of socialism are being built one after another in the DPRK, ushering in a new era of national prosperity.

This year, the third year of the 50 000-flat construction project, witnessed the start of the second-stage 10 000-flat housing construction in the Hwasong area and the groundbreaking for the construction of the Kangdong Greenhouse Farm and a new street in the Sopho area in February.

In April this year, the first-stage 10 000-flat housing project in the Hwasong area near the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the supreme temple of Juche, was completed as a thriving street symbolic of socialism and a new street for the people and inaugurated on the occasion of the birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

In spite of manifold trials and difficulties, Changjon Street, Mirae Scientists Street, Ryomyong Street and Songhwa Street in Pyongyang and modern dwelling houses in Samjiyon and the Komdok area and the rural areas mushroomed to the delight of the people and a luxury dwelling district called Kyongru-dong was built on the banks of the Pothong River.

The ever-increasing sanctions by the enemies and the world health crisis caused by to the pandemic disease have created enormous obstacles and difficulties in the way of the Korean people who are pushing ahead with economic construction.

However, the housing construction was a revolutionary undertaking the Workers’ Party of Korea was absolutely determined to carry out, irrespective of the advantages and disadvantages of the condition, and achieve good results in without fail.

It is the WPK that eliminates sufferings of the people at any cost, realizes anything desired and awaited by them and fulfills any promise it made to them, even if the sky should fall.

Therefore, General Secretary Kim Jong Un said that the construction of 50 000 flats in Pyongyang is a project for fulfilling the cherished desire of the WPK to provide the citizens with more stable and civilized living conditions. He noted that the housing problem is of utmost concern to the people and a primary issue in making them feel the benefits of the socialist system in their hearts and that the core of the construction policy set forth at the Eighth Congress of the WPK is to make the country the first one that solved the housing problem.

He stressed the need to concentrate efforts on the construction of the 50 000 flats in order to solve the housing problem of Pyongyang citizens in the main, even though there were more severe obstacles than ever before. He led the construction of dwelling houses for the people to be carried out simultaneously without interruption in an unprecedentedly gigantic, unique and modern fashion.

He visited various parts of the country in the blizzards of January, through sultry weathers of July and August and until December when the year drew to a close, and gave guidance over every architectural structure personally checking numerous designs so that they could embody the people-first idea and plan for architectural development.

There are many streets boasting splendor and houses boasting luxury in the world.

But there is no street which is designed out of love for the people and built with that love, and given to the people totally free of charge.

That is why whenever an ideal of the people is realized, they shout hurrah at the top of their voices looking up to the respected General Secretary and the WPK.
