Songchon County, which has been renowned for chestnut and tobacco since olden times, has come to have another pride envied by the whole country today when a new era of gigantic regional rejuvenation is unfolding.

The first explosion for implementing the new regional development policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea, aimed at removing the centuries-old regional backwardness, was set off in Songchon County and the first entities of the construction project rose up in the county.

The Songchon people were deeply moved and excited as the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un attended both the groundbreaking and inaugural ceremonies of its regional-industry factories to deliver important speeches on the two occasions and oversaw the construction of them on the spot.

The residents say that the words of greeting “How do you do, beloved people in Songchon County?” and “I wish the people in Songchon County good health and happiness” in his speeches made at the ceremonies still linger in their ears.

They swell with the honour of having received warm blessings of General Secretary Kim Jong Un and the joy of working at the industrial establishments completed under his meticulous guidance.

Quality products with the local brands roll off in streams at such modern factories as foodstuff, daily necessities and garment factories and the products symbolizing Songchon are on the increase.

The products processed with chestnuts, a long pride of Songchon, as raw materials win popularity.

The Songchon County people say in unison that they will keep increasing the sources of pride of Songchon by devoting their patriotic sweats, following the leadership of the WPK, with extraordinary pride of having met the General Secretary on different occasions.
