Symposium on history and culture of Koguryo Kingdom held
November 29, 2024A symposium on the history and culture of Koguryo Kingdom took place at the Academy of Social Sciences on November 27.
Present there were officials concerned and researchers, lecturers, writers, journalists and editors in the fields of science, education, art and literature, media and national heritage conservation.
Speakers referred to the research conducted into the history and culture of Koguryo Kingdom, the first feudal state in Korea.
As a result of the research, they noted, the founding year of Koguryo was scientifically clarified, the distorted issues including its historic position were corrected, many historical relics of Koguryo were unearthed and restored and the Mausoleum of King Tongmyong was successfully reconstructed so that the excellent history and culture of the nation could be remembered for all ages to come.
They said that the newly-surveyed Tudaedong Fortress in North Hwanghae Province was proved to be a mountain fortress dating back to the period of Koguryo by the fact that it was built in the fortress-building method peculiar to Koguryo and through the study of the stones of the citadel, tiles and other relics.
The speakers expressed their determination to further intensify scientific research on the history and culture of Koguryo Kingdom in order to contribute to glorifying the good qualities of the nation.
