Pyongyang Teachers Training College, which trains kindergarten and primary school teachers, has a mother’s classroom which cannot be found in other universities for training middle school or university teachers.

“It is very important to combine school education closely with family education with motherly character together with high qualifications as educators, in order to bring up rising generations properly,” said Ri Yun Hui, department chief of education faculty No. 1 of Pyongyang Teachers Training College.

In the mother’s classroom that simulates family environment by equipping itself with toys, kitchen and others, students learn the combination method of school and family education.

According to Ri Yun Hui, learning the method of family education is an important process for helping students become teachers and successfully educate children in close contact with their parents in the future.

She said that teaching students the method of educating children under various family circumstances wins popularity among students.

“Today at the mother’s classroom I came to know how parents should teach children when they tell them a lie or take other’s thing and how teachers should consult with parents and educate children when the parents ask them for help as they could not find a way to educate them. This will be very helpful for me as I have to be a teacher,” said Kim Un Byol, student of the college.

Ri Yun Hui says that all household goods including furniture, clock and electronic products can be used as good educational means for children.

Therefore, at the mother’s classroom students are also taught how to educate schoolchildren in the family environment.

The college encourages students to take an active part in the development of methods of family education through the mother’s classroom.

Teachers guide in a scientific and pedagogical way students to conceive, design and publish new educational methods by themselves and complete them through discussion.

In the course of this, significant new educational methods were proposed among students.

The college diffused several presentations for mothers to educate children, which have proved highly effective.

It also pays great efforts to generalizing the methods of education through the mother’s classroom to colleges at all provinces.

These days, the lecturers of the college are conducting research into the methods of educating and edifying children for fathers, as well as for mothers, in keeping with the global trend of educational development.

The college has built up a large database and is pressing on with research into fathers’ methods of educating children according to their vocational characteristics.

Students unanimously say that in the mother’s classroom, they feel once again that parents should use scientific methodology to educate and edify their children well.
